Welcoming Week Durham 2022

September 12, 2022 - 02:00 pm

This week, the City of Durham celebrates Welcoming Week by creating a “community puzzle.” Each resident will receive a blank puzzle piece which they will use as a blank canvas to share something they love about their community; be it their neighborhood, their family, or the place or activity that makes them feel most at home. Later, this “community puzzle” will be on display in Golden Belt for residents to be reminded that in of the interconnectedness of our diverse communities.

Under the theme of “Where We Belong”, the City of Durham will host the following events for residents to add their piece to the community puzzle in September:

• Monday, September 12: Latino Community Credit Union, 4251 N. Roxboro Rd, 11-1pm and Durham Public Library, 300 N Roxboro Road, 2-5pm (book display and puzzle pieces will be available all week on the first floor)
• Tuesday, September 13: Merrick Moore Park, 632 N Hoover Road,
• Wednesday, September 14: Lakewood YMCA, 2119 Chapel Hill Road (lower), 9-12pm
• Thursday, September 15: Durham City Hall, 101 City Hall Plaza, 11-2pm
• Friday, September 16: Downtown YMCA, 218 West Morgan Street, 9-12pm and Third Friday at Golden Belt, 800 Taylor Street, 6-9pm

This is an opportunity for residents of Durham to build community one piece at a time. We invite all Durham neighbors to come together for this unique community building event in spaces and places that create a sense of belonging.
