Celebrate Welcoming Week with Brooklyn Public Library and Emma’s Torch, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering refugees through providing paid culinary training, professional development, and English language skills training.  We will cook live at Greenpoint Library with Emma’s Torch alumni, Jahck Diack, who will share his recipe for Yassa, a dish from his home country of Senegal.

“One of my earliest memories of Yassa was actually not one that was pleasant; I was a young boy in the kitchen helping my mom and remember spilling hot oil on my foot. Nowadays, I love Yassa. It reminds me of being home, no matter where I am in the world, and I chose it as my signature dish to present at my Emma’s Torch graduation.”

Visit bklynlib.org/cooking a week before the program, for the full recipe.
