You Are Kin, You Are Welcome Here: AHLAN Manual & Resettlement Partnerships in Higher Ed

Originally broadcasted on November 7, 2023. In this webinar, you will learn how to partner with colleges and universities to build campus-community ecosystems that support refugee inclusion by using the newly released action guide, Ahlan: A Manual for Establishing Resettlement Campuses Together (2023): https://welcomingamerica.org/resource…

Why now? There is a growing movement in the U.S. to transform both refugee resettlement and post-secondary education by building a lasting intersection between the two. In 2022, the United Nations estimated 108 million displaced persons worldwide, with 35.3 million specifically designated as refugees who are entitled to petition for resettlement. With nearly 4,000 U.S. colleges and universities, and with many of these institutions facing a call to transform their academic and public engagement missions for relevance in the 21st Century, this is the time to strengthen and expand the capacities of both resettlement efforts and post-secondary education.

The Ahlan Manual is a comprehensive resource created through a partnership with Every Campus A Refuge, the National Association of System Heads, Welcoming America, and Guilford College that offers step-by-step to-do lists for strengthening and expanding campus-community capacity for refugee welcome and inclusion. You will learn how to apply the information and strategies in the free, open access manual, and make connections with the growing network of resettlement campus stakeholders, partners, and champions.
