Language Access Fundamentals

If you are just starting to establish a language access program within your community, organization, or government and want a refresher on basic-level topics, this is designed for you.

Part 1: Presentation

In part one, participants engaged in discussion and activities to understand the meaning and impact of language access and gain practical skills so that their work can be rooted in both practical understanding and compassion.

Part 2: Workshop

In part two, you will learn how to express the meaning and importance of language access; identify when language assistance resources are needed; distinguish between the available language access resources: telephonic interpretation, in-person interpretation, video remote interpretation, and written translation; and work effectively with language assistance resources (interpreters, translators, and technological resources).
