“From its inception, Welcoming America has equipped communities to operate from a place of abundance. Welcoming is a movement and an invitation to work towards a version of this world where there’s enough for all of us.”
— Rachel Perić, Executive Director, Welcoming America
15 Years of Welcoming
Watch our short video that brings 15 years of Welcoming America to life.
In a time where our divisions feel larger than life, reaching out and building bridges is where a more welcoming America begins. Will you join us?
Over the past 15 years, we’ve made great strides toward a more welcoming world. Today, this mission has become even more urgent due to recent asylum restrictions. For more information, read our statement on the Biden administration's restrictions on asylum seekers.
Celebrate 15 years with us
Our 15th anniversary giving campaign kicks off on World Refugee Day on June 20 and finishes on the 4th of July. Help us meet our goal of raising $15,000 in 15 days!
Looking back, looking ahead
We just published the first-ever State of Welcoming, which highlights the history of our contributions to the welcoming movement, why welcoming matters, critical lessons learned, and where we go from here.

One in 25 Americans — over 13 million people — live in a Certified Welcoming city or county.
Over 1,000 welcoming policies and programs are being put in place every year to bring down barriers to civic, economic, and social participation and build stronger communities.
In the U.S., our members in nearly every state are building welcoming infrastructure.
Globally, our Welcoming International Alliance makes up nearly 600 community institutions around the world.
