Belonging Begins With US in KC: Understanding the Refugee Journey from Homeland and within the KC Community.
In observation of Welcoming America Week, Communities Concerned for Immigrants and Refugees (CCIR) is sponsoring this presentation to enhance understanding of U.S. policies and procedures that impact refugee arrivals to the United States, as well as Afghan Special Immigrant Visa Recipients.
The keynote speaker is Kristen Aster of the International Rescue Committee (IRC). Kristen Aster is the Resettlement, Asylum, and Integration (RAI) headquarters Director for Client and Community Engagement, supporting more than 26 IRC offices across the United States and Europe.
Representatives from the three local resettlement agencies; Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas, Della Lamb Community Services and Jewish Vocational Service will participate in a panel discussion addressing federally mandated services and local activities that support a Welcoming KC.
