Mahdia Chowdhury

As Welcoming America’s Certified Welcoming Coordinator, Mahdia Chowdhury focuses on onboarding new localities into Certified Welcoming and conducting the initial research and analysis of their self-assessments.

As an immigrant herself who moved to New York City at a young age, she became passionate about understanding how to support and uplift immigrant communities in the United States. She has experience in government and research. In her previous roles, she was a research intern at Migration Policy Institute. She has also interned for a New York State Senator and the Department of State.

Mahdia has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Cornell University. Mahdia was born in Bangladesh and grew up in Queens, New York before moving to Long Island, New York where she now lives with her family and her cat, Laila.
